The 80 – 10 – 10 rule of humanity.

Dogs, Dogs, everywhere dogs, blocking out the scenery breaking my……..?
Stephen Stills will have to forgive me, but much like his hippy anthem of how structure and rules were causing the ruin of the world in that time, we hear the same things today being voiced about many more things than just signs. I wonder if someone will write a remake of that song for current times, like, “Twitter Twitter everywhere Twitter, blocking all the scenery and making me……”, well we’d need to come up with something that rhymes with Twitter and means being a zombie! Oh wait, can’t use zombies, because they are popular now. Every manner of beast, vampire or undead creature has become the love child of the current generation. I should actually not call the current round of humans a generation, since a generation has at least one complete rotation. Most of what I have witnessed in the current group of people moving from youth to adulthood is that they are barely making a one quarter turn. You can’t blame them really. The world is doing its job of distracting the 80% with everything from mass fear to the end of the world to a never ending supply of technology meant to reach into the depths of every one of us and extract whatever individuality and creativity we have left! Oh, now don’t get your junk in a knot! I know that technology is not evil, but misdirected in the capitalistic world of mass media and marketing, “need” is quickly confused with, ”want”.
This is a problem humans have had as long as they have been on the earth, likely including when we were small, insignificant creatures swimming in the sea. (Yes, I am referring to and a believer in evolution but in a way that few others do. You see, I believe that from the first cell separation, humans have always been humans. This is why there has never been a “missing link” found. There is no link because even though we looked and lived like current day apes, humans were always humans. Being ape like was simply another step on our own evolutionary ladder, much like self awareness has become for some in recent years. More on this later!)

Back to want and need, and the 80 – 10 -10 theory!

In the human world, there are three basic groups that all people fall into. There are 10% of people who are enlightened enough that there is potential for them to reach a point of awareness that could equal anything imaginable, from personal success to immortality. This 10% of humans tends to thrive no matter what is thrown at them and regardless of their birth or place in the world, because of their positive energy. These are the people that are generally referred to as “special”, “talented” gifted” and a myriad of other words meant for one thing and one thing only and that is to make it clear to the 80% that “they” are not like, ”us”. Humans separate out people in this “top” 10 percentile and put them on pedestals in order both to admire them and also to remind the admirer of his or her own insignificance and unworthiness. This is not to say that there is anything wrong with admiration, no matter who it is directed at, just that admiration can easily move aside for adoration or idolization, neither of which is terribly healthy. Too often people stop living their own lives while they watch someone else live theirs. Our humans tend to live vicariously through those who we admire. It is certainly easier to focus on American Idol rather than housework, but at the end of the day, the dishes are still dirty.

These distractions keep the bulk of humans, our 80%, from any chance of having enough open space in their minds to truly examine who they are and why they are here. This doesn’t mean these people are visibly unhappy, in fact, most plod along with good days and bad days, or even seemingly all average days, not standing out much in any direction. This in fact is the purpose of the 80%, to remain together in the pen with the other sheep. These are the people who though they have the same inner soul inside of them as all of us, seem content to just trudge forward as long as they are in a pack. This makes them feel what is generally referred to as “normal”. Normal……… Hmmmm……. Now there is a word that almost defines explanation. Normal, average, both words make most people feel alright about themselves. Not great, but alright. The desire to fit in is driven into humans from birth, with much of our society built on conformity and line towing mentalities. It is this which is one of our human dogs best weapons for keeping the leash loose and the inner soul clouded and confused. It is one of the most illogical things I have come across so far in studying the humans, mine included. If the 10% of people in the world are the best, brightest, most innovative and creative etc.. etc… etc….., why would anyone looking for enlightenment want to be a part of that group? “Weird”, “odd”, and “different” are the terms most commonly used by the 80% when talking of the top 10%, along with “awesome”, “The best” (a completely inaccurate term in any sentence, unless coupled with “that they could” or similar!), or similar description. This is why of late with the technology boom, more and more people seem obsessed with following every move made by people who they see as “special”. All the tie they are doing so the inner self is driven further and further from finding any light. There is nothing wrong with admiration. I admire the work done by anyone who stands out, like some celebrities, sports figures and most people you would expect to be admired. I also admire the way my mechanic can fix the problems in my car, and how my waitress can remember my order when the café is busy! This is the key. I place no more value in the very best to the very least, as long as I admire what I see. What does it do for your human self to spend too much time fawning over the accomplishments of others? It only distracts you from getting your own human anywhere beyond the day to day muck that we all walk through. If you want to find enlightenment you must first stop associating it with any monetary reward or attention getting. Otherwise you are simply living life as a spectator and not a participant. Keep in mind, humans for the most part go through life torn by their desire and their fear of being “special” or “different”. Just think of the connotations and it is understandable. We use the same term with a smile to describe someone as “special” who we see as better, more talented or creative than we are. We use the same term with a sad face to describe someone less fortunate or seemingly with less to offer the world than we ourselves. Both are nonsense. People are people, and we all have the same quality inside us. Some of our humans make it impossible for this to every be found or properly understood by some individuals, while in others it is simply locked in a cement enclosure never to see the light of day. For most people, standing out is more terrifying than being unnoticed. They don’t want to be last, but they sure as hell don’t want to be first! These are the sheep, the people who go through life watching for consensus before forming any opinion and often only after they are sure they’ll be safely within their 80% group where they can feel safe. Like frogs put in cold water and gradually heated, the 80% will always stay in the pot until it is too late, as long as the others stay too. The key to being aware and staying in the upper, positive 10% of humans is to always remember that the 80% are a necessary part of the entire human make up and you cannot pull them out of that group. If they can be inspired, they will be and once in a rare while, one of this group will awaken and realize they don’t belong there, but sadly, most are right where they will always be, stuck right in the middle. What holds most people in the positive 10% back in life is the belief that all it takes is for one to “show people the way”, and they will understand. Utter hogwash!!!! You cannot show someone the way. The best you can do is live “the way” and accept that some will gain from this and most will not. In the same way that control cannot be taken, it can only be given, enlightenment cannot be taught, it can only be learned. If someone has within themselves the ability and strength to understand the human dogs and how to control them, there is a good chance they have the ability to keep themselves well out of the 80% mass and continue on the path to truth and understanding. If they do not have this within them, there is no amount of explanation that will overcome this obstacle. Many a once enlightened person has been pulled back into the 80% mass due to their stubborn refusal to accept that no matter how hard you pull on the rope, some mules will not budge. The important thing in going through life is to always find ways that separate you from the 80%. This is where the innovative, inventive and creative souls on the earth always flourish. No matter what the event or human act, whenever a large group of humans is idolizing or focusing their attention on someone “special”, you can be assured that the person being idolized has been called “different”, “odd” or the like throughout their life. An example is hockey great Wayne Gretzky, one of the most achieved players in history, who is referred to as an anomaly even today by many.

Now there is the last 10% that I have not mentioned, who are much like everything on this earth, an opposite and balance of negative energy that is a part of the overall human species. This group is made up of humans who are also “special”, or “different” people, but in different ways than their counterparts in the top percentile. Don’t think that this means they are any less wise, educated, wealthy or cognitive than any of the other humans. They may even be well known public figures, celebrities or other people that are admired or viewed as “elite” in one way or another. They are often very successful in human terms of “wealth”, or popularity, but the negative energies direct the human to the most lucrative path regardless of what effect the actions may have on others. Others stay well clear of any attention, positive or otherwise and can be the most dangerous of all. They generally feed off the 80% in one way or another and try to steer clear of the positive energy because it is something they fear. The most sinister of this group is still held in high esteem by the masses, but due to their fear of them rather than admiration. This 10% usually has little control over one or more of their dogs, but they are able to prosper due to their willingness to separate themselves from the 80% “pack”, regardless of the fact that they are going in a negative direction. They are the most dangerous because from the outside it is difficult for most if not all of the 80% group to tell the difference between these negative humans and their positive counterparts. Often, by the time they realize that their admiration and idolization is misplaced, the proverbial cheque has already been cashed.

When thinking of how our human dogs behave, it is important to always remember these three groups and that they are unchanging. To find the road to the enlightened and positive 10% one must always be aware of and guard against the opposite and negative 10%, while at the same time understanding that the 80% are and always will be right where they belong, stuck in the middle. The key is to be aware of them, not a part of them.
